A Staten Island studio, run by an engineer.
The Continental Studios is a two-room recording studio in St. George, Staten Island, open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
It's owned and run by Raymond J. Scavo III, Ray Da Plug to the artists he works with: two decades on the console and a Grammy win for his work on Kendrick Lamar's Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, which took Best Rap Album at the 65th Grammy Awards and earned him an Album of the Year nomination.
Studio A is Ray's tracking and mix room: a full analog front end with NS-10M and KRK monitoring. Studio B is smaller and more intimate: you record right next to your engineer. Staff engineers Jason and Daniel run sessions in both rooms. Every session is booked by the hour with the engineer included. Engineering is never a separate line item.

Yes. The studio runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and overnight sessions are a normal part of how we work. Late-night blocks go fast, so lock yours in early.
Where is the studio, and how do I get there?
36 Richmond Terrace, Staten Island, NY 10301, in St. George, a short walk from the St. George Ferry Terminal. Suite details are shared once your session is booked. From Manhattan, the Staten Island Ferry is free and runs 24/7 from Whitehall Terminal (about 25 minutes). From Brooklyn, take the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge; from New Jersey, the Bayonne or Goethals Bridge.
Who is Ray Da Plug?
Raymond J. Scavo III, known as Ray Da Plug, owns The Continental Studios and runs Studio A, with more than 20 years on the console. He won a Grammy for his work on Kendrick Lamar's Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, which took Best Rap Album at the 65th Grammy Awards, and the Recording Academy also lists him as an Album of the Year nominee for the record. He has tracked, mixed and delivered records for artists including Method Man, Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, RZA, Dave East and Tory Lanez.

Studio A is the full tracking and mix room, with a hybrid analog chain (Neve 1073SPX, Universal Audio LA-610, Empirical Labs Distressor) and Yamaha NS-10M and KRK 10-3 monitoring. Book it with Ray Da Plug or with staff engineers Jason or Daniel. Studio B is smaller and more intimate: you record right next to your engineer. It fits up to 4 people; ask us about extra guests.

Mixing, yes: hybrid analog and in-the-box, on a hardware chain built around a Neve 1073SPX, a Universal Audio LA-610 and an Empirical Labs Distressor. For mastering, we prepare and deliver pre-masters and coordinate with trusted mastering partners, spec'd for streaming and physical release.
What gear is in the rooms?
Studio A runs a Neve 1073SPX, Universal Audio LA-610, Empirical Labs EL8X Distressor, VLA II and BAE 1073 into a Universal Audio Apollo x8, with a Lauten Audio Eden LT-386 tube mic and Yamaha NS-10M and KRK 10-3 monitors. Yes. An Ensoniq ASR-10 and an Akai MPC Renaissance are on hand, along with MIDI controllers, for in-session production, sound design and quick beat work.
Do you work with labels and A&R teams?
Yes. We run label sessions regularly, from single-day tracking to full album cycles, and can invoice, contract and deliver stems on whatever spec your team needs.
